The following troubleshooting checklist will help ensure that the uKnowMobile app for iOS that provides uKnowKids with location data from your child's phone is properly configured and is able to communicate with the uKnowKids system.

Please go through this troubleshooting checklist if you ever have problems obtaining up-to-date location data from your child's mobile device.

  1. Confirm that the uKnowMobile app for iOS is installed and up to date.

  2. Open, and if necessary, activate the uKnowMobile app for iOS so that uKnowMobile is running in the background on your child’s Apple mobile device.

  3. Confirm that the uKnowMobile app for iOS is properly configured with permission to run in the background on your child’s Apple mobile device.

  4. Confirm that the uKnowMobile app for iOS is properly configured with permission to access the Location Services on your child’s Apple mobile device.

  5. Enable Restrictions on changes to Location Services permissions to ensure that the uKnowMobile app for iOS location services permissions cannot be changed by your child intentionally or unintentionally.

  6. Enable Restrictions on changes to Background App Refresh permissions to ensure that the uKnowMobile app for iOS background app refresh settings cannot be changed by your child intentionally or unintentionally.

  7. After these steps have been taken, the uKnowMobile app for iOS will be able to reliably acquire location data from your child’s Apple mobile device.
