From time to time, you may find that you are not seeing updated location data in your dashboard. This may be due to your child disabling their mobile phone's location services. Family Sense relies upon the mobile phone (or social networks via the mobile phone) to identify your child's location. If their location services are disabled, Family Sense (or any other location service) will not be able to identify the phone's location.

Mobile phone users occasionally disable their phone's location services in order to conserve battery power. The following are instructions for checking the status of your child's mobile phone location services and the steps to re-enable your child's location services if it has been deactivated.

To enable location access on your device:

Android

  1. On your mobile device, touch Settings.
  2. Touch Location access.
  3. Check the box to enable Access to my location.
  4. Check the box to enable GPS Satellites. When GPS Satellites is enabled, the GPS status icon displays at the top of your mobile device screen
  5. Check the box to enable Wi-Fi & mobile network location.

Note: The names of these options, menus, and menu items can vary by device. Refer to the documentation that came with your device, or see the Android OS Help Center.
